In terms of what fans can expect from the event, the big rumour is that Resident Evil 9 will be unveiled during the presentation.
According to insider AestheticGamer aka Dusk Golem, Resident Evil 9 is almost guaranteed to be revealed during this week’s Summer Game Fest stream.
In a series of posts on X, user AestheticGamer says there’s a lot of buzz about a possible Resident Evil 9 reveal. AestheticGamer claims that Capcom’s increased social media activity is more proof that something big is about to be announced.
“I’d say if you’re tuning into Summer Game Fest on June 6th hoping that Resident Evil 9 will show up, there’s an incredibly high chance you won’t be disappointed,” reads an AestheticGamer tweet. “I’m getting into hype mode for it myself.”
Previous rumours suggest that Resident Evil 9 will feature more open-world elements, and that Leon Kennedy will be the main playable character.
The project will be helmed by Resident Evil 7 director Koshi Nakanishi.
Elsewhere, some fans think Hollow Knight Silksong may be the subject of a “shadow drop” following the Summer Game Fest, or at least receive a definitive release date.
Various Hollow Knight Silksong Steam files have just been updated, including language settings for achievements. This suggests the game is pretty much ready to go.
Couple that with the release of the Switch 2 on June 5, and fans are hoping the game will be available to purchase and play after the Summer Game Fest event comes to an end.
In terms of other announcements, the Summer Game Fest has dozens of different partners, which means we could get new games and updates for titles published by SEGA, Devolver Digital, 2K, Square Enix, SuperMassive, Bandai Namco and CD Projekt.
Meta Quest is also listed as a partner, so don’t be surprised if some new virtual reality games are announced.
