Devoting toResearching andCreating a FlourishingScenery with Various Kinds of Juncao

In the 1960s and 1970s, the artificial cultivation of edible and medicinal mushrooms such as shiitake, black fungus, Ganoderma lucidum and other mushrooms in the world basically used wood as raw material, and in China the cultivation of shiitake alone required the cutting of more than 10 million cubic meters of broad-leaved forests every year, thus it causes serious ecological problems and “contradiction between mushroom and forest”. In order to protect the forest and improve the yield and quality of Juncao, and at the same time to find a new way of sustainable development of the mushroom industry that can help people to get rid of poverty and get rich, many agricultural and forestry experts have devoted themselves to the research of innovation in Juncao technology.

LIN Caiwei, an agricultural engineer, was born in 1983 and graduated from Xinjiang Shihezi University, now he is the Chairman and General Manager of Danzhou Muchun Ecological and Agricultural Development Co., Ltd. He has a high sensitivity to planting, seedling promotion and breeding of Juncao, and is good at using theoretical knowledge and planting experience to solve the problems found in the development of Juncao or edible and medicinal mushroom industry. In addition to the development of Juncao edible and medicinal mushroom industry, LIN Caiwei also attaches great importance to the sustainable development of Juncao production chain, he believes that the sustainability is the foundation for the development of China’s agriculture, so he coordinates with high standard from Juncao raw material planting to edible fungi bag production, from edible (medicinal) mushroom cultivation and planting to its food production, processing and sales, then forming a perfect industrial system of Juncao edible and medicinal mushroom industry. LIN Caiwei believes that the research achievements of Juncao need to be used efficiently, and the technical achievements with good logic are the basic elements to build the whole chain of Juncao recycling industry. Therefore, promoting the development of local ecological economy and promoting the coordinated development of agriculture are all need the technical achievements of Juncao as support.

In response to the ecological problem of “contradiction between mushroom and forest” in traditional edible and medicinal mushroom technology, LIN Caiwei has been developed the method of Juncao edible fungi bag and mycelium cultivation, this method is a new planting technology, it is different from the traditional planting method, it does not need wood as raw material and does not destroy forest, truly achieved the pursue of “grass instead of wood”. It effectively solves the problem related to raw materials in the development of mushroom industry, sets standard and controls the quality of raw materials from the source, fundamentally improves the production and quality of mushroom industry, realizes the comprehensive and efficient use of light, heat and water in the whole industry chain of edible and medicinal fungi, and the recycling production of plants, animals and mushrooms, with the combination of economic, social and environmental benefits, which is all conducive to ecological, food and energy security.

There are various problems occurring in the current industry of Juncao cultivation, such as mixed species of seedlings, unstable quality, unregulated cultivation, harvesting and processing depletion. All these problems make the development of Juncao industry lag behind. In response to this, LIN Caiwei devoted himself to researching how to improve the common key technologies and integrated application of its seed breeding, seed production, seed processing, storage and transportation, field planting and management. He has also developed patents such as A Method for Making Artificial Seeds of Pennisetum Giganteum, A Seedling Cutting Device for Juncao, A Solar Drying Device for Ganoderma Lucidum, A Bulk Planting Machine for Juncao, A Batch Packaging Machine for Ganoderma Lucidum Culture Medium and other patents combined with contemporary science and technology.

In which, A Method for Making Artificial Seeds of Pennisetum Giganteum uses the axillary buds at the base of the stalk of Pennisetum Giganteum after scientific treatment as the explants, and take the irregular upper part of the seed buds as the artificial seeds, injects the artificial endosperm made of sodium alginate, MS medium, naphthalene acetic acid, indole butyric acid, sucrose and activated carbon into the centrifuge tube, then injects CaCl2 solution, cured to form Pennisetum Giganteum seed capsule, mix sodium alginate, prululan polysaccharide and sodium carboxymethyl cellulose to make artificial seed coat, put the artificial seed into the capsule shell and cover it. This invention is applicable to the mechanized sowing production of Pennisetum Giganteum seeds, which shortens the culture cycle of its seeds, reduces the cost and improves the production efficiency. The application and promotion of this method reduce the labor cost and time cost, which is of great help to the development of its breeding and planting, helps to reconfigure the human resource elements, promotes the scientific and sustainable development of Juncao industry, curbs the low yield of it and the waste of labor cost and time cost originally, and truly realizes the “Whole Chain of Juncao Recycling Industry”.

More than ten years’ research in Juncao industry, multiple patent achievements, successfully create considerable income for Danzhou Muchun Ecological and Agricultural Development Co., Ltd., local people and the clients. In between the Juncao research, LIN Caiwei is also keen to explore the tertiary industry related to the Juncao industry, and is a talent who lives up to his reputation. In the future, he will devote himself to the research of Juncao industry, and continue to inject fresh energy into the development of Juncao industry in the world. (Article/ Joe)
