The Fortnite Season 8 start date has been confirmed by various Epic Games sites, meaning we have a good idea on when the Season Battle Pass will end.

However, things have been running a little differently during Season 7, meaning further changes cannot be ruled out.

And if the past has taught us anything, it’s that Epic Games are always ready to change their winning formula when it comes to Battle Royale.

The Express reports that the latest Fortnite patch notes hold important changes to the weapons list and how potions work, but no release clue on what is coming during Season 8.

So when does Fortnite Season 8 start and what date will the Season 7 Battle Pass end?

The Fortnite Season 8 release date looks scheduled for Thursday, February 28, due to the holiday break made by Epic Games in December.

This will mean that unlike past seasons, Season 7 will be 12 weeks long, rather than the usual 10.

However, while Season 7 was different in format, Fortnite Season 8 should revert to the normal 10 weeks run.

That means the Fortnite Season 8 end date could be set for around May 8, 2019.

Here’s the official news from Epic Games, who confirm the extension of the current season:

“The Epic Games team will be taking its own holiday break this winter, so Season 7 will be extended by two weeks and end on February 28.

“We’ll still have new updates coming out during that break period bringing new items and challenges. You can plan on more holiday cheer to hit before the New Year as well!”

WHEN DOES FORTNITE SEASON 8 START?

While gamers still have plenty of time to get ready for Season 8 of Fortnite, it’s always good to have a general idea of how things will go down.

From how Epic Games have run past season transitions, it seems pretty likely that Fortnite Season 8 will start in the early afternoon in the UK.

Downtime is usually confirmed for around 8am, GMT, and is followed by a new update at around midday.

This should be seen as the final time for Season 7 also, as Epic Games has taken to allowing Season 7 run down to the very last minute.

The official timer on the Epic Games site shows that the Fortnite Season 7 Battle Pass is scheduled to end on February 28, 2019.

FORTNITE SEASON 8 BATTLE PASS

Fortnite Season 8 will have its own Battle Pass, complete with unique theme and skins.

Cosmetic items will be based around a general idea, although it’s hard to tell right now what that might be.

Will Fortnite Season 8 have more of a Medieval vibe? Or does Epic Games have something totally different up their sleeve?

Until we start seeing those new in-game events roll in, it’s hard to tell what will happen. Even after the new Ice Storm that hit the island, its effects may only last a short period.

When it comes to the price of the Battle Pass, we expect Epic Games to keep it pegged at 950 V-Bucks.

There’s no reason to raise it and would likely put some players off bothering with it.

Fans also believe they have found dragon eggs that might be part of Season 8, as well as new aquatic skins.

Will everything melt after the upcoming Ice Storm and flood areas of the Fortnite map?
