Genshin Impact fans are counting down to the release of the action adventure game on PS5.

According to Genshin Impact developer miHo Yo, the popular free-to-play adventure has an April 28 release date on the next-gen PlayStation console.

“The PS5 version of Genshin Impact will arrive on the PlayStation Store on April 28 at 6:00 AM (UTC+8),” miHo Yo explains.

“After that time, players can visit the Genshin Impact official site and click on HOME > ‘PS5 | PS4’ to go to the Genshin Impact product page on the PlayStation Store, where you can learn more about the game and download it.

“Or, go directly to the PlayStation Store and search “Genshin Impact” to download the game.”

The PS5 release – which coincides with the launch of update 1.5 – features improved visuals, faster loading times and DualSense support.

Parts of the map have also been given a makeover exclusively for PlayStation 5, including popular mountain area Qingyun Peak.

“We’ve also prepared an exclusive version of Qingyun Peak only for PlayStation 5 players!” the developer continues.

“This mountain peak has been one of the most popular places in the game among both our players and team. So we’ve given this location a bit of a makeover. We hope you like the surprise!”

Visually, the game will benefit from a 4K graphical upgrade, as well as full HDR support for vibrant colours.

With Genshin Impact, we want to transport you into a visually stunning and culturally diverse world.

“The all-new graphics library allows us to pack even more details into the game world. Look closely at your surroundings, and the high-res texture will tell you a unique story in every tiny detail; raise your eyes to the horizon, and the enhanced Level of Detail distance will bring you an impressive view of landmarks near and far.”

Then there are the speedier loading times, which transport players across the map within a matter of seconds.

Arguably the most exciting new feature is the introduction of DualSense support for PS5 users.

Described as a “game-changer”, miYo Ho will continue to experiment with DualSense support, although fans should notice a difference from the PS4 version.

“But to truly approach the next-gen experience, we realise the DualSense controller will be a game-changer by showing how the game world responds to your actions within.

“The DualSense controller adopts very different technologies, and we’re still redesigning the controller support from scratch to explore its full potential.

“You may notice that the controller vibration feels different from that in the backward-compatible version of the game. We can’t wait to integrate even more of the controller’s features to better reflect your immersive experience in Teyvat.”

Check back on April 28 for full Genshin Impact update 1.5 patch notes.
