GTA 6 release date news begins today with what could be a big hint from Rockstar Games that they’re ramping up launch plans for the PlayStation and Xbox. Grand Theft Auto fans will surely be hoping that 2020 is finally the year that Rockstar Games unveils GTA 6 to the world. GTA fans are currently enduring the longest wait ever for a new game in the series, with it being over six years since Grand Theft Auto 5 was released.
It had been hoped that following the release of Red Dead Redemption 2 in late 2018 Rockstar Games would reveal in 2019 what they’re working on next.
However last year came and went without even a peep from Rockstar Games on GTA 6, with fans left wondering when it will get announced.
But the start of the new year brings fresh hope that GTA 6 could at last get announced by Rockstar Games in the coming 12 months.
It’s rumoured that GTA 6 will launch this year on the PS5 as a timed day one exclusive and it could even get announced next month.
In February Sony are rumoured to be holding a PS5 event, and if GTA 6 is a PS5 launch title then maybe it will get announced there.
And as fans wait for official word from Rockstar Games on GTA 6 there’s a sign that the major dev could be ramping up launch plans.
Rockstar Games has recently posted a number of job adverts that could suggest they are getting ready for a major release.
The Grand Theft Auto makers have advertised for openings in the past few days for two game tester positions.
One of these game tester positions is based at Rockstar Lincoln and the other is with Rockstar North in Edinburgh.
This is in addition to an already advertised game tester role in India.
The successful applicant will have to test games “across various platforms” and write up “bug reports when required” as well as other duties.
In a post online Rockstar said one of the main roles will be to “ensure the product quality of Rockstar releases to an industry leading standard”.
No specific game in question was mentioned, but the news will surely spark speculation among the GTA community that the advertised roles could be related to GTA 6.
If Rockstar are – as rumoured – planning on launching GTA 6 in 2020 then it makes sense they would be looking to iron out any bugs ahead of release.
And these game tester positions could be advertised so they can ramp up the testing phase ahead of GTA 6’s eventual release.
Other jobs Rockstar Games are advertising for are also eye-catching and could point towards work on the next GTA.
Rockstar Games at the moment are advertising for two localisation positions.
One of the advertised roles is a German localisation tester, the other is for Korean localisation.
These roles will require candidates to “proofread all translated text for all products and services”.
No specific game or service was mentioned, but GTA 5 supported multiple languages – including Korean and German.
It wouldn’t be a surprise to see the next game in the Grand Theft Auto series also support these languages.
So it’s not out of the realms of possibility that these advertised roles are to help create the Korean and German language version of the next GTA game.
