Usually, when Google releases a major update it brings new features to your smartphone but this latest upgrade is offering something completely different.

The US technology firm has just begun releasing a big Play Store change on its Android TV platform.

This new Material Theme change includes a total redesign and new look for this service on your television.

As noted by 9to5Google, the update now brings a full-bleed cover art and larger text with a layout that’s far more content-rich.

Along with the refreshed appearance, there’s also an improved search and when you select an app you’ll now get a video preview which takes up the entire screen.

Apps downloaded on Android TV can be auto-updated as well which means every change a developer pushes out will be instantly installed,

Although it’s not clear who has received this big version 16.9.42 revamp, one user has posted screenshots online showing how the update looks.

You can check those out here.

Google often rolls out these types of upgrades slowly but, if your TV is powered by Android it’s worth checking the settings menu to see if the changes are available.

This TV change comes as more phones are beginning to receive the Android 10 upgrade.

Google released this blockbuster update a few months ago on its Pixel devices but more firms appear to now be bringing this new operating system to their customers.

OnePlus has already joined the party and Samsung has just announced the release of the Android 10 beta on its flagship Galaxy phones.

This means owners can join up to test Android 10 before its final release.

The programme is open to those with a Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+, or even the monstrous S10 5G.

Anyone eager to try Android 10 on their bezel-exterminating handset should download the Samsung Members app where you’ll receive an alert if you’re able to test out the new software.

Android 10 includes numerous changes including a Dark Mode and better security.
