Call of Duty Modern Warfare developer Infinity Ward is getting ready to launch the open beta on Xbox One and PC.

Despite being open to all players on PS4, only pre-order customers can access the Call of Duty beta on Xbox One and PC.

But this is all about to change, as Activision opens the beta up to everybody on PC and consoles.

The Modern Warfare open beta has a September 21 release date and 2am UK start time on Xbox and PC.

This means UK fans will have to stay up late to get stuck into the new Call of Duty game.

If you’re an Xbox One owner, it’s also worth remembering that you’ll need an Xbox Live Gold subscription in order to access the beta.

The final Call of Duty beta phase ends in just a few days, at 6pm BST on September 23.

To ensure you get the most out of the beta and don’t miss a second of the action, it’s probably worth pre-loading.

The Call of Duty Modern Warfare beta weighs in at a hefty 37GB on Xbox One, so it’s definitely worth downloading ahead of the release date.

The Call of Duty Modern Warfare beta will contain various maps, playlists and surprises.

“Expect an epic and ever-changing series of Maps, Playlists, and other content drops throughout the Beta Test Weekends, with surprises and a great deal of content to access,” reads a beta post on the PlayStation Store.

Fans will be able to try out everything from the 64-person Ground War mode, to the smaller, faster Gun Fight mode.

Microsoft explains more: “Get an early look at the new collection of maps and modes Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has to offer before it releases on October 25.

“Be among the first to experience the intense Multiplayer action from quick-action, close-quarters 2 vs. 2 experiences, to traditional 6 vs. 6 Multiplayer gameplay, and larger player count firefights.

“Try new gameplay mechanics, including bullet penetration, gun mounting, door breaching and night vision Multiplayer gameplay maps featuring night vision goggles (NVGs) that allow for an amazing tactical experience.”

The latest beta even supports cross-platform multiplayer, meaning you can play against friends on different platforms.
