Blue light is known to be harmful to the eyes and can also affect sleep as it interferes with the timing of the creation of melatonin within our bodies. Smartphones have included this type of blue-screen blocking tech for a while, but it’s not so common to find it on your television.

To help improve things further, the new TVs have also been awarded the “Gentle To The Eyes” certification that proves that the amount of melatonin suppression from a device meets the International Commission on Illumination (CIE) standard.

Speaking about the news, Yonghoon Choi, Executive Vice President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics said, “As the global TV industry leader of 15 years’ standing, Samsung is fully committed to developing products that not only offer excellent picture quality, but are also human-centric.”
