PS4 owners can download one of the console’s most popular multiplayer games for free right now.
As a special Easter weekend treat, Blizzard has released a free version of multiplayer classic Overwatch.
The Overwatch free trial can be downloaded from the PlayStation Store, although there are a few caveats.
For starters, the game is only available to play for free until April 23, after which the Overwatch trial will end.
And while you don’t need a PlayStation Plus subscription to download the game, you will need to be a member to access online multiplayer.
The Overwatch free trial is also available on Xbox One and PC, so download now to avoid disappointment.
If you decide to purchase the full game, all of your progress will carry over.
Overwatch SKINS: NEW loot revealed for Storm Rising Archives event
“Join us for a FREE trial of Overwatch beginning April 16!” reads a Blizzard post.
“You’ll have access to all of the maps and heroes in a variety of game modes.
“Any experience or items you earn during this free trial will transfer over if you decide to purchase Overwatch just be sure you purchase the game on the same Sony Entertainment Network account you played with during this free trial.”
Now’s a good time to check out Overwatch, because Blizzard has just launched a limited event.
Titled Storm Rising, the latest Archives event explores a key moment in Overwatch history.
The co-op mission sees players travel to Havana in an attempt to capture Talon associate Maximilien.
You can also play previous Archive missions, including the Retribution quest, which sees the secretive Blackwatch team attempt to capture a high-ranking member of the Talon organisation.
There’s also Tracer’s first mission from the Archives Uprising event in 2017.
Needless to say, the Overwatch Storm Rising event also features a selection of new skins and rewards, which are available in limited-time Loot Boxes.
