Samsung has a huge 24-hours ahead with the Korean firm looking set to release its next swathe of smartphones. The big Unpacked unveiling is taking place in San Francisco and it seems almost certain that a Galaxy S20 range will be revealed to the world. Although many fans may have expected a Galaxy S11 to replace the current S10, that now looks unlikely with a recent post on Samsung’s website – which has since been removed – revealing the new S20 name.
So with the big event just a few hours away, here’s all you need to know about this new device including expected price, release and specs.
GALAXY S20 SPECS: What’s coming from Samsung?
Of course, Samsung is remaining tight-lipped about its next generation of smartphones with the main news being revealed at tomorrow’s event.
However, there’s been a huge number of leaks and rumours which paint a pretty clear picture of what could be coming soon.
As we mentioned earlier, it seems a Galaxy S20 will be the star of the show but it could also be joined by two other siblings.
A recent post on Twitter, by leakster Ishan Agarwal, revealed full specs for the range which include an S20 Plus and an S20 Ultra.
The Ultra appears to be the flagship most people will crave with the leaked spec sheet showing a device that features a giant 6.9-inch screen, huge battery and quad rear camera with a 100X zoom.
All of the S20 range could also get a 120Hz display which will make scrolling through content feel silky smooth.
GALAXY S20 PRICE: How much will it cost?
Full pricing will probably be announced at tomorrow’s keynote but ahead of this announcement, there has been a big leak which claims to reveal full pricing.
The latest report suggests that the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+ and Galaxy S20 Ultra will start from 1.25 million (£808 / $1,052), 1.35 million (£875 / $1,136) and 1.6 million (£1,035 / $1350) won, respectively.
Of course, prices can vary massively between markets based on a whole host of local factors, so don’t take these rough conversations as definitive. However, the latest report – and previous leaks around the Galaxy S20 price – suggest the new smartphones will be a little pricier this time around compared to last year.
GALAXY S20 PRICE: When will they be released?
Release and pre-order news will definitely be revealed tomorrow but we may already have a fairly good idea about when these devices will arrive in pockets courtesy of a South Korean news outlet, which was picked-up by reliable blog SamMobile.
The least news suggests that pre-orders for the Galaxy S20 series will go live in Samsung’s home country on February 14, 2020.
That means you won’t be able to place your pre-order and reserve the shiny new smartphone as soon as it’s unmasked on-stage… you’ll have to wait a few days.
Galaxy S20 will then start shipping to those who have pre-ordered the device on March 6, 2020 in South Korea. That’s the same date that handsets will start to appear on store shelves too. Sources speaking to SamMobile have mooted the same release date, which suggests March 6 could be a worldwide launch, not just limited to Korea.
GALAXY S20 UNPACKED: What else will be revealed?
Along with the S20 we’re also expecting Samsung to reveal its new foldable phone called the Galaxy Z Flip.
Samsung gave fans their first glimpse of this phone during last night’s Oscar ceremony with an advert appearing during one of the commercial breaks.
This device looks very similar to Motorola’s new Razr phone with a case that flips upwards to reveal a giant display.
A small screen on the front is also be included which reveals basic messages and notifications.
GALAXY S20 UNPACKED: How can you watch the news?
Samsung will be revealing all in San Francisco tomorrow evening with proceedings kicking off at around 6:45 pm.
Express.co.uk will be bringing you live updates throughout the evening but Samsung will also be live streaming the event via YouTube.
You can watch the full live stream here.
