GREAT!, which already offers UK homes a number of movie channels, is now switching on its movies Christmas service which is showing back-to-back blockbusters 24 hours a day.

This channel will run right through the Christmas period with titles such as A Christmas Melody, starring Mariah Carey and Call Me Claus with, Liam Neeson, Pierce Brosnan and Suranne Jones, just two of the movies on offer.

Viewers are also being promised exclusive channel premieres such as The Mistletoe Promise, A Taste of Christmas, Christmas Cupcakes, Welcome to Christmas and many more.

If you fancy tuning in, you’ll find the new service on Freeview 52, Sky 319, Virgin 424, and Freesat 303 from today, September 8.

Both of these services are totally free to watch with EarthxTV (channel 79) showing content aimed at those interested in the environment and with Celebration TV (channel 275) offering programmes based on faith and religion.

Although the release of these new channels is good news, some Freeview customers might not be so pleased to hear that they are about to lose access to endless hours of content.

Users of Samsung TVs, Humax boxes and Panasonic screens are losing support for the ITV Hub app from the end of this month.

The reason ITV is blocking some older devices is due to an upgrade that’s making things incompatible.

In an update on its status page, Freeview said: “From the end of September ITV is making changes to the ITV Hub app. As a result, the ITV Hub app will no longer be available on some devices, including some Freeview Play devices. This is due to ITV working to deliver improvements and upgrade their app. The technology required to carry out these improvements is not supported by some devices.”
