Xperia XZ4 is the presumed name given to the Xperia XZ3’s successor.
The XZ3 certainly marked a return to form for the Japanese OEM, as Express.co.uk noted in our review of the handset.
And it appears the XZ4 is set to severely up the ante by arriving with a turbocharged processor, camera improvements and a new display.
Xperia XZ4 is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s latest and greatest Snapdragon 855 chipset and come with 6GB of RAM.
Moreover, leaked renders of the device, courtesy of Olixar, have shown it flaunting a triple-camera system.
Although it is unknown what the function of each lens could be, it appears the device may dramatically improve upon the single 19-megapixel sensor offered on its predecessor.
The Xperia XZ4 has been heavily rumoured to arrive with a very unique display thanks to its claimed 21:9 aspect ratio.
This means the Japanese phone could offer a tall and thin screen for Android enthusiasts to enjoy.
In fact, renowned tipster Ice Universe recently took to Twitter to display an alleged screen protector for the handset.
He said: “I received the tempered film of the Sony Xperia XZ4.This phone is too long.
“After measuring, the length of the XZ4 screen is 15.2cm, which is similar to the length of the iPhone Xs Max.”
The claimed accessory suggested the XZ4 will greatly reduce bezels, especially when compared to the borders offered on the XZ3.
While rumours so far suggest Sony could be gearing up to announce its best smartphone in years, it appears the specifications of the hardware have leaked ahead of its presumed reveal.
A claimed spec sheet for the handset recently appeared on Weibo and was spotted by Sumahoinfo.
The Xperia XZ4 was claimed to be powered by a Snapdragon 855 chipset accompanied by 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.
It is worth noting it was claimed memory on the handset was expandable via a microSD card by up to 512GB.
Moreover, it was also declared the flagship will come pre-installed with Android 9 Pie.
One of the most notable specs discussed was a claimed 4,400mAh battery that, if accurate, means the Xperia XZ4 could have the largest pack offered on a flagship device.
The Huawei Mate 20 Pro currently holds the crown for such an achievement with a 4,200mAh battery.
The screen on the Xperia XZ4 was said to be a 6.5-inch OLED with a resolution of 3360×1440.
Finally, the handset was claimed to arrive in black, sliver, blue and purple colours.
It is worth noting the accuracy of the Weibo leak has not been discussed by Sony.
Instead it is expected all details about the hardware will be revealed on on Monday, February 25, at 7.30am GMT.
Express.co.uk will be covering proceedings live.
